Frequency Scaling of Microwave Conductivity in the Integer Quantum Hall Effect Minima

چکیده
We measure the longitudinal conductivity σxx at frequencies 1.246 GHz ≤ f ≤ 10.05 GHz over a range of temperatures 235 mK ≤ T ≤ 4.2 K with particular emphasis on the Quantum Hall plateaus. We find that Re(σxx) scales linearly with frequency for a range of magnetic field around the center of the plateaus, i.e. where σxx(ω) ≫ σ DC xx . The width of this scaling region decreases with higher temperature and vanishes by 1.2 K altogether. Comparison between localization length determined from σxx(ω) and DC measurements on the same wafer show good agreement.

High frequency conductivity in the quantum Hall e!ect
We present high frequency measurements of the diagonal conductivity of a two-dimensional electron system in the integer quantum Hall regime. The width of the peaks between QHE minima is analyzed within the framework of scaling theory using both temperature (1"100}700 mK) and frequency ( f)6 GHz) in a two parameter scaling ansatz. For the plateau transition width we "nd scaling behaviour for bot...
متن کاملAbsence of Scaling in the Integer Quantum Hall Effect
We have studied the conductivity peak in the transition region between the two lowest integer Quantum Hall states using transmission measurements of edge magnetoplasmons. The width of the transition region is found to increase linearly with frequency but remains finite when extrapolated to zero frequency and temperature. Contrary to prevalent theoretical pictures, our data does not show the sca...
متن کاملPeak Values of Conductivity in Integer and Fractional Quantum Hall Effect
The diagonal conductivity usr was measured in the Corbino geometry in both integer and fractional quantum Hall effect (QHE). We find that peak values of g=.+ are approximately equal for transitions in a wide range of integer filling factors 3 < v < 16, as expected in scaling theories of QHE. This fact allows us to compare peak values in the integer and fractional regimes within the framework of...
متن کاملFrequency dependent conductivity in the integer quantum Hall effect
Abstract. Frequency dependent electronic transport is investigated for a two-dimensional disordered system in the presence of a strong perpendicular static magnetic field. The acconductivity is calculated numerically from Kubo’s linear response theory using a recursive Green’s function technique. In the tail of the lowest Landau band, we find a linear frequency dependence for the imaginary part...
متن کاملDynamical critical behavior in the integer quantum Hall effect
We investigate dynamical scaling properties in the integer quantum Hall effect for non-interacting electrons at zero temperature, by means of the frequency-induced peak broadening of the dissipative longitudinal conductivity σ xx (ω). This quantity is calculated numerically in the lowest Landau level for various values of the Fermi energy E, of the frequency ω, and of the system size L. Data fo...
